Program Description:

Program Overview
The Department of Summer Courses and Special Programs offers short-term summer abroad programs in English that enable students to combine an enriching academic experience with the opportunity to live and breathe the subject matter.

For over thirty years, the Department has offered stimulating, accredited summer courses to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as mature learners with academic backgrounds.

All summer abroad programs incorporate a variety of stimulating co-curricular and extracurricular activities, seminars, and trips, providing students with an enriching social and academic experience that extends beyond the limits of the classroom.

In addition, students may optimize their short term academic experience by registering for multiple summer courses, combining various topics of their interest.

Summer Courses
Short-term, intensive and specialized summer abroad courses designed for undergraduate and graduate students and mature learners with academic backgrounds.
This summer, our academic program offers courses in the following areas:
Israel Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, International Law, Jerusalem Studies, Jewish and Religious Studies, Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies, Economics and Trauma & Resilience.

Summer Intensive Language Programs
Intensive language courses in Modern Hebrew, Biblical Hebrew, Modern Standard Arabic and Colloquial Arabic, on introductory, intermediate and advanced levels. Courses are instructed by highly professional, dynamic and experienced staff. Teaching methods include frontal classroom instruction and conversational practice, and incorporate multi-media educational aids and the use of both classical and modern texts.

The program fee is set by the RIS. The RIS will invoice UWM for the program cost and this cost will be posted to students' PAWS accounts in addition to CIE administrative fees and mandatory health insurance fees.
