Program Description:
Non-UWM Program
Welcome to the study abroad application system! As part of the application process, you are required to meet with a study abroad coordinator. If you have not done so, please call the study abroad office at 229-4846 to schedule an appointment.

In addition to the fees you pay to a third-party provider or host university, you will be responsible for paying the following: $100 application fee and CIE administrative fees in the amount of $550 per semester ($1,100 for an academic year). You will also be required to pay mandatory international health insurance costs, calculated on the dates you enter in your application, in the amount of $35/month. The CIE administrative fees and the international health insurance costs will be posted to your PAWS account.

You earn transfer credit when you do a non-UWM program. Transfer credit is not calculated into your GPA. If you have 72 or more transfer credits, check with your academic advisor to ensure you do not exceed the allowable maximum number of transfer credit. If you need to earn specific credit to fulfill degree requirements, you must complete a
Course Equivalency Approval Form.

When exploring your non-UWM program options, please know that the transcript issued for your program must come from an accredited institution. If the institution you wish to attend is NOT accredited , then you must find a "school of record" that can issue you a transcript for the courses taken on the program. For more information, contact your individual program.
Upon completion of your program, you should be issued official transcripts that include the names of the courses you took, the number of credit hours received, and the grade or score received for each course. Transcripts should be sent to:

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
CIE Study Abroad Office
P.O. Box 413, Garland 138
Milwaukee, WI 53201-0413

Program Acceptance
Program applications are reviewed shortly after the application deadline and you will be notified via email. Once you have confirmed your participation in the program, you will need to complete a variety of post-acceptance materials. Your study abroad coordinator will enroll you in a study abroad placeholder to ensure that you remain registered as a UWM student while abroad.
